Embodied intellect

Human Person

The human being is an embodied rational substance with intellect and will.

This domain clarifies why the human person is neither a mere animal machine nor a mind temporarily attached to a body. The soul is the form of the body, while intellect and will open human life to truth, freedom, and moral responsibility.

What this domain studies

  • Soul as the substantial form of the living body.
  • Intellect, will, imagination, sensation, and appetite.
  • Personal unity against reductionist materialism and dualism.
  • Freedom, knowledge, and the embodied conditions of human action.
